Volunteers
Our Volunteers
We currently have over 75 volunteers supporting us. This includes our Board members and volunteers who help us with general admin, fundraising or awareness raising work. The vast majority, however, are involved in supporting individuals who contact our text-based services or who come to the Hive for face-to-face support.
Our volunteers come with a broad range of experiences, some work or are currently studying for their career in the NHS, some in social care and in a range of other occupations. All our volunteers come with experience of mental health, either through direct experience themselves, through their professional background or through supporting families and friends with their mental health issues.
This is what some of our volunteers say about volunteering with Mikeysline:
A Sense Of Pride
“It was never going to be easy, but it gives me an enormous sense of pride to be a Volunteer, and I’ve gained much in my time so far”
“I saw an advert for Mikeysline looking for volunteers and wanted to, if I could, be there for someone and offer support when they needed it. I’m learning new skills and enjoy meeting new people along the way too. Being there for each other in the local community as much we can”
